Located in Cape Henlopen State Park, the Fort Miles Historical Area and Fort Miles Museum tell the story of Fort Miles, a key piece of our nation’s coastal defense, from World War II through the early 1970s.

At the Governor Ross Mansion & Plantation, learn about life in the Victorian countryside, the life of William Henry Harrison Rossare preserved in this Victorian Italianate mansion, and its 20 acres grounds, farm buildings, and log slave quarter.

Meet the millers, textile workers, and the wives and children who lived at Greenbank Mill from 1790-1830. Participate in fun hands-on period activities like stick-weaving, baking bread in wood fired ovens, and mapping!

Hagley is the site of the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802. This example of early American industry includes restored mills, a workers’ community, and the ancestral home and gardens of the du Pont family.

The Delaware Historical Society offers programs that enhance Delaware history curriculum through interactive learning at the Delaware History Museum, Jane and Littleton Mitchell Center for African American Heritage, and Read House & Gardens.

The Indian River Life-Saving Station was built in 1876. Be swept back to a time when night-time beach patrols and perilous high seas rescues were the only way to save shipwreck victims along the coasts of the United States.

Learn about the natural history of Delaware at the Iron Hill Museum. Housed within a schoolhouse, the museum offers programs and exhibits on wildlife, archaeology, and natural history.

Discover the plantation and home of John Dickinson, one of the founding fathers, and drafter of the United States Constitution. Tours make use of costumed interpreters to depict characters from Dickinson’s life and times during the 18th century.

The Johnson Victrola Museum displays phonographs, recordings, trademarks, memorabilia, and other objects highlight the development of Johnson’s business and the history of the sound-recording industry.

Visit the Copeland Maritime Center at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard to experience exhibits including Watercraft of the World with 73 model ships, Riverfront Room chronicling Wilmington’s train and ship-building history, Science of Sailing and more.

Killens Pond State Park is a Delaware. The park surrounds a 66-acre pond known as Killens Pond located along the Murderkill River. Amenities available include boating, fishing, hiking, playgrounds, and picnic areas.

Lightship Overfalls is one of the only remaining lightships. Built in 1938, the Overfalls was the last lightship built with a riveted construction and has a radio beacon, foghorn, and 1,000-watt electric lantern.
