Historic Smith’s Fort Plantation was gifted as a dowry from Powhatan after John Rolfe’s marriage to Pocahontas. Exhibits tell the stories of captain John Smith, John Rolfe, Pocahontas, Chief Powhatan and the Jamestown colonists.

Exhibits at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum feature archives from the 19th and 20th centuries, including artifacts from well-known historical figures like Martha Washington and Robert E. Lee.

The State Arboretum of Virginia has over 5000 living trees, a diverse collection of 200 kinds of conifers, 162 types of boxwood, a 300 tree ginkgo grove, a cedar of Lebanon allee, a herb garden and the Virginia Native Plant Trail.

Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts houses a 500 seat theater–the stage for concerts, ballets, musicals, dramatic works, symphony performances, films, children’s plays, lectures and so much more.

Tour the Supreme Court of Virginia, directly across from the Virginia Capitol building, and see the main courtroom, lectures, a visitor film, and exhibits. Oral arguments are open to the public.

At Surry Nuclear Information Center, visitors can find out how a nuclear power station works. See models of a nuclear reactor and the containment structure. Generate your own electricity using muscle power.

The T.C. Williams Planetarium is committed to high quality astronomy and space science education services and provides outreach programs to students, families, and the community.

The Museum offers eleven galleries as part of the Fralin Center for American Art and originates 15-20 exhibitions per year. Notice the design of the museum by Randall Stout, that reflects the naturalistic elements of the Roanoke region.

The Clifton Institute for ecology, education, and the environment features a beautiful 900-acre field station with a diverse community of native plants and animals.

The Living Earth School is a nature-based educational organization, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of central Virginia in the Charlottesville area.

Named for The Alexandria Lyceum, the The Lyceum: Alexandria’s History Museum has served as a Civil War Hospital, office building, and the nation’s first Bicentennial Center. Today, the Museum offers exhibitions and public programs.
