Meadowlark Botanical Gardens features three distinct native plant collections include the Potomac Valley Collection, the Native Tree Collection and the Virginia Native Wetland Collection.

Merck Forest and Farmland Center teaches sustainable management of forest and farmland. The site is comprised of 3,100 acres of forest, an organic sugaring operation, and a 62-acre farm.

Home to cougars, red pandas, wolverines, and more, the Mountain Mill Zoo is an ideal setting to view and learn about wildlife on self-guided or themed guided tours.

Explore Monticello, home of the president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. Exhibitions such as “Crossroads” explore the history of slavery at Monticello with life-sized figures, interactive models, and recovered artifacts.

The Muscarelle Museum of Art collection spans over 5,000 works of art, spanning many continents and historical eras, including colonial American and English art, Japanese art, and original prints and drawings from the 15th century through modern times.

The Museum at Colonial Beach, housed in one of the Town’s oldest structures, features permanent and changing exhibits, personal collections, photos, and artifacts that tell the stories and preserve the history of our beloved town.

The Museum of Geosciences at Virginia Tech exhibits include the OmniGlobe, gems, minerals, rocks, fossils, and a full-scale cast of an Allosaurus dinosaur skeleton.

At The National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum, learners can step into a world of inspiration, challenge, and discovery and unlock their potential with STEM. Make learning fun with the hall’s virtual activities.

Experience a STEM to STERN adventure at Nauticus! Explore interactive exhibits and programs, walk the historic decks of the Battleship Wisconsin, and sail along the Elizabeth River. Outreach Programs: Hampton Roads.

Naval Station Norfolk, supporting the US Atlantic Fleet, is one of the largest naval bases in America. Visitors can take a 45 minute tour to see aircraft carriers, destroyers, amphibious assault ships.

Visit the home of Joseph Thomas Newsome, the first African-American attorney in post-Civil War Newport News. Honor the legacy of Mr Thomas thru remembrance of African American history and culture.

With over 60 different gardens to explore, the Norfolk Botanical Garden showcase local flora or from different parts of the world.  The WOW Children’s Garden offers opportunities for learning and exploration.
