Field Trips

Explore history, geology and ecology with a trip to Gulf Islands National Seashore. Self-guided and staff-led programs allow visitors to collaborate in hands-on discovery of the park.

Hattiesburg Zoo, on 12-acres, features over 100 species of animals including tiger, tapir, capybara, zebras, alpacas, primates, birds, reptiles, flamingos, and various attractions and hands-on activities.

HealthWorks! provides an interactive museum to educate children in the region on the importance of being healthy and how to make life choices that will lead to overall wellness.

The International Museum of Muslim Cultures offers educational programs, workshops and resources including a full teaching curriculum for all grade levels, the Timbuktu Human Dignity Curriculum.

Jackson Fire Museum and Public Fire Safety Education Center consists of exhibits covering the history of Jackson’s fire department plus fire safety education.

Kudzu Playhouse welcomes educational groups such as schools, pre-schools, homeschoolers, after school care & day care to enjoy our shows. Children’s classics, musicals and dramas.

The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art consists of five collections: American art, European paintings, Native American baskets, Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, and British Georgian silver. Special day for 4th graders: Choctaw Days.

At the Lazy Acres Farm, field trips in the fall and spring. Pick-your-own pumpkin in the fall and in the spring visit the bunny patch. For both, take a wagon ride and visit with the farm animals.

At the Lower Mississippi River Museum, explore life on the Mississippi River. Find out how different communities, farming families, and the US Army Corps of Engineers utilize the river.

The Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is a Children’s Museum in a 1916 former school with interactive exhibits, outdoor play area & more in the arts, science and history.

The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum preserves, interprets and exhibits the maritime history and heritage of Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Informative and hands-on exhibits.

McClain offers educational field trips which includes a Safari tour where staff will provide educational information about the various species that you will see as well as a visit to our Petting Zoo.
