The Center for Education, Imagination and the Natural World fosters the relationship between the human being and the natural world. Programs are offered for educators and students–Nature, listening, poetry, design, and more.

The Thomas Wolfe House is a state historic site and museum that focuses on the American author Thomas Wolfe lived in during his boyhood. It is one of American literature’s most famous landmarks.

Tobacco Farm Life Museum is a 6,000 square foot museum features exhibits on farm life, southern medicine, domestic skills, rural social life, and artifacts. Take a trip back in time to a simpler way of life.

At Town Creek Indian Mound see the reconstructed ceremonial center, exhibits and audiovisual programs, a nature trail, burial house, and more. Programs throughout the year focus on Native American lifestyles.

Walnut Creek Wetland Center features a 59-acre park with trails, wildlife watching, and exhibits. Learn about wetland ecology and birds with stories, facts, and activities.

The Weatherspoon Art Museum holds one of the leading collections of 20th and 21st century American art in the Southeast. Interactive guided tours, lesson plans, and educator workshops available.

Wells Fargo History Museum in Uptown Charlotte features interactive displays tracing the history of Wells Fargo bank and gold mining in North Carolina.

The Wilkes Heritage Museum’s mission is to preserve the Wilkes County’s history. Exhibits at the museum focus on a variety of subjects including art, history, music, business, and industry.

Groups will enjoy a day with nature as they tour Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary and learn about the birds and other small animals that live there. They’ll hear a story, and learn about the garden’s role as a bird habitat.

At Winterpast Farm, visitors can meet and pet the animals, have a garden activity, learn about planting, and try other activities such as tree identification, arts and crafts, and fun team-building games.

Wise Acres is a family owned u-pick organic strawberry and pumpkin farm just outside of Charlotte. School, homeschool, and summer camp groups visit the farm to learn about farming in a hands-on atmosphere.

Wortham Center for the Performing Arts offers live performances of music, theatre and dance throughout the year by nationally touring artists. Morning matinee series performances are open to school and other youth groups.
