Tremont’s distinctive residential trips span 3 to 5 days, during which students become inhabitants and explorers of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They aren’t mere spectators, but are active participants, building critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. Curriculum aligns with academic standards and can be customized to achieve class goals across academic subjects.

Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is a nonprofit environmental education center located inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They offer immersive educational experiences that create positive change for both people and the planet. In partnership with the national park, their research and residential programs investigate diversity, develop a sense of place, and cultivate a stewardship ethic that will influence lifelong decision-making. Hands-on programs are designed to spark curiosity, foster self-discovery, and nurture critical thinking for learners of all ages.

They aren’t mere spectators, but are active participants, building critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. Curriculum aligns with academic standards and can be customized to achieve class goals across academic subjects.

Tremont is happy to welcome homeschool groups of at least 15 students; ages 8+ recommended.
