Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia

Field trips to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia (also known as the Philadelphia Fed and Philly Fed), home to the first Bank of the United States, allow groups to step into the world of America’s financial system. The bank’s Money in Motion exhibit features a variety of artifacts and interactive elements such as a 25-foot tower of shredded bills that amount to $100 million, a currency cart of $5 bills totaling $1.35 million, paper money and coins that were in circulation during colonial times, the Banker’s Challenge game, and more. Money in Motion is open to students, scout, homeschool, and camp groups both large and small; however, groups of more than 10 are required to reserve a tour at least two weeks in advance.
