Exhibits on the ExpERIEnce Children's Museum’s Creativity Floor allows students to learn about patterns using magnetic shapes, build channels to hold boat or duck races, practice sight words, and more. The Explore Floor lets students discover Lake Erie’s importance in the region, describe pictographs they’ve found inside Portal to the Past Cave, identify different species of fish, and other activities. On the Imagination Floor, students can play in a kid-sized old town and supermarket, roleplay as employees at Donatos Pizza Shop, observe the effects of wind, and much more. The Discovery Garden allows students to get creative, explore art in nature, and more with sing-a-longs, creating a place for fairies to live in the fairy garden, build challenges, retelling plots of books they’ve read in the Reading Nook, and other activities.

Located in downtown Erie’s historic cultural district, ExpERIEnce Children's Museum offers a safe space for groups of early childhood age to create, explore, and imagine. Indoor exhibits are spread across three floors of the museum—The Creativity Floor, Imagination Floor, and Explore Floor—focusing on an array of subject areas. Discovery Corner, ExpERIEnce Children's Museum’s outdoor exhibits, incorporate art and literacy. Wegman’s Kids Market, Eriez Magnetics, The Doctor’s Office, Donatos Pizza Shop, and Old Town Bank are a few of the many indoor exhibits groups can explore at ExpERIEnce Children's Museum. Discovery Corner exhibits include Discovery Garden and Pathway, Reading Nook, and others. The museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibits allow for interaction, play, and fun learning experiences. Groups can reserve museum’s Loft space to eat lunch after their field trip at an additional fee.

As of 2007, the Association of Children’s Museums estimated that there were approximately 80 children’s museums in development alone.

Scouts

ExpERIEnce Children's Museum offers special programs and a Girl Scout Overnight Gala. Brownies can work on their Money Manager badge as they shop in the Old Town exhibit and learn to budget. Girl Scout Brownies can also work on Home Scientist badges through a variety of hands-on experiments. Brownie Patches are available for purchase by troop leaders for Money Manager and Home Scientist programs. During the Girl Scout Overnight Gala, troops can enjoy after hours at the museum with creative activities, breakfast, dinner, and more.

Camp

Summer camp groups are welcome to explore ExpERIEnce Children's Museum and interact with a variety of exhibits. Campers can create masterpieces in the Open Studio Center, build a dam on the Water Table, engage with a replica GE locomotive, and more. ExpERIEnce Children's Museum’s Word Bank provides campers with a scavenger hunt-like adventure to find vocabulary words throughout the museum. Visits must be reserved at least two weeks in advance.

Field trips to ExpERIEnce Children's Museum provide a variety of hands-on STEM learning opportunities for young homeschool groups. Exhibits and programs allow homeschoolers to learn about patterns using magnetic shapes, describe pictographs they’ve found inside Portal to the Past Cave, take on the role of a Donatos Pizza Shop employee, observe the effects of wind, retell plots of books from the Reading Nook, and much more. Field trips must be reserved at least two weeks ahead.
