Students, scouts, homeschoolers, and camp groups will experience nature through environmental education programs, field experiences, and recreational activities at Piedmont Environmental Center. The center sits on a 376-acre property that includes lakeside habitats, pine and hardwood forests, trails, and the Bicentennial Greenway. Groups can peruse the center’s animal exhibits, walk on a topographic relief map of the state in the North Carolina Mapscape Exhibit, explore natural habitats while hiking the many trails, and more. Be sure to check out the Mineral and Plant Labs in the classroom, native plants in the Solar Heart Garden, and green technology in the Main Building.
