National Soaring Museum

Learn about the heritage of motorless flight, aeronautics, and related physical sciences while touring a large archive area and an 8,000-square-foot Heritage Hangar at the National Soaring Museum. Located on Harris Hill near Elmira, NY, the museum’s collection includes a Bowlus Senior Albatross, Ross R-6, Schreder HP-8 Airmate, Hutter H-17, Marske Genesis I, Laister LP-15 Nugget, Waco CG-4A, and more. Students, scouts, homeschoolers, and campers can go on a guided or self-guided tour of the museum’s collection of gliders and sailplanes from 1890 to the late 20th century, see the United States Soaring Hall of Fame, and learn the math and science of aerodynamics. The National Soaring Museum hosts overnights, events, and other fun activities. Group tours are available by appointment only.
