FIELD TRIPS

At the Old Barracks Museum, groups can go back in time to 1777 and learn about the trials and tribulations faced by soldiers in Washington’s army and other people who lived in New Jersey. Witness a weapons demonstration, and learn about 18th-century medicine. Students can then hear an account of the Battle of Trenton or meet with a Loyalist who challenges their readiness to join General Washington. Workshops can be added on to the program, and include colonial clothing, children's toys, the experience of women and African Americans, and the French & Indian War. Cost varies, begins at $6. Groups unable to visit can reserve an outreach program, where a costumed staff member visits their location and demonstrates aspects of colonial life.
