DESTINATIONS

School

The Orchestra brings musical magic to groups throughout the state. School groups can attend a school-time concert at a concert hall, and augment their learning in the classroom with a resource guide. They can also hear musicians at their school through customized ensemble programs built around specific instruments, cultures, and composers. They can hear a children's story, listen to a Hispanic or Italian string quartet, travel through the works of Mozart, and more. Performances are designed to take listeners on an adventure through the innovation and expression of classical music, allowing them to appreciate the cultural background of every instrument and their places within the orchestra.

Music Concert Lesson Plan

FUN FACTS

A concert is a live music performance in front of an audience. The performance may be by a single musician, sometimes then called a recital, or by a musical ensemble, such as an orchestra, choir, or band, before recorded music, concerts provided the main opportunity to hear musicians play.

Field trips to music concerts bring lessons on famous composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and more to life. Groups will be able to hear and feel the music these composers created long ago while seated in world renowned concert halls.

Camp

The orchestra brings musical magic to groups across the state with the Concerts for Young People program! These interactive concerts are designed to spark the imagination, and take campers on adventures through the innovation and expression of classical music. The NJSO’s REACH chamber music programs allow learners to appreciate the cultural roles and functions of each instrument. While highlighting each instrument’s diverse capabilities, the quintet demonstrates how well the instruments play together, and what makes each unique. See how stories come to life through classical music, or learn about specific composers.
