SCHOOL

Students from preschool through 6th grade may participate in the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut’s programs. These programs feature discovery through hands on activities and play. Programs may satisfy Connecticut Science Standards and are taught “from an inquiry based perspective”. Programs cover science, STEAM, animals, space, weather, and various art topics.

The first children’s museum in the world was the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, founded in 1899. Hundreds of children’s museums have opened in the United States since then. As of 2007, the Association of Children’s Museums estimated that there were approximately 80 children’s museums in development alone.
