DESTINATIONS

School

Young People’s Concerts introduce students to musical instruments, genres, and composers as they hear music, literature, and history brought to life. The in-school Instrument Discovery program allows students to try out the instruments of the orchestra, and talk with a professional musician. Classes can also have a visit from the Maestros, for a special project; or work to develop their technique, musicianship, and other skills. Teachers are welcome to bring their students to one of the Symphony's open rehearsals at Woolsey Hall, at no cost (reservation required). Inquire about field trip scholarships.

Music Concert Lesson Plan

FUN FACTS

A concert is a live music performance in front of an audience. The performance may be by a single musician, sometimes then called a recital, or by a musical ensemble, such as an orchestra, choir, or band, before recorded music, concerts provided the main opportunity to hear musicians play.

Field trips to music concerts bring lessons on famous composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and more to life. Groups will be able to hear and feel the music these composers created long ago while seated in world renowned concert halls.
