Fall programs focus on the changing climate, natural resources, seeds, and scavenger hunts. In the winter, groups can study geology, learn about animal tracking and footprints, and how to tap and make their own maple syrup. In the spring, groups can learn about birds, planting a garden, soil and decomposition, pond life, and insect life cycles.

Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center

A 150-acre wildlife sanctuary of hills, fields, meadows, and swamp, that provides a home for many species of flora and fauna. The Visitor Center features nature exhibits, a small natural history library, and "animal ambassadors" including a Bearded Dragon, snakes, and owls. Visit any time during the year to enjoy exciting, educational, and hands-on seasonal activities and presentations.

For Scouts, the Nature Center can offer a custom program to help them work towards badge requirements. Naturalist and Forestry badge programs are the most popular programs offered. Scouts can enjoy 2.5 miles of trails, birdwatching, exhibits, and more.

Camp

A trip to the Nature Center can be planned for any time of the year, and campers can enjoy exciting, educational, and hands-on seasonal activities. Programs may involve outdoor games, hiking, scavenger hunts, and other activities. They can meet an owl and dissect owl pellets, learn about what lives in the local pond, tap a tree for syrup in the spring, learn how to plant a garden, and meet birds and resident insects.
