Field Trips

In the spring and summer months, groups can stop by and visit the petting zoo at Overlook Farm Market to see rabbits, chickens, and goats.

Pennings Orchard produces over 15 varieties of apples to pick throughout the season. School and youth groups can enjoy a variety of fun farm activities, scenic views, fall foliage, the petting farm, hay maze, and more on field trips to the orchard.

Family owned and operated Rainbow’s End Butterfly Farm hand raises butterflies and includes a flight house that displays eco-friendly environments. See local butterflies and the plants they visit.

Guests of the Roundout Lighthouse take a boat to the location and tour the inside, observation deck, and navigational light.

Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz has a diverse collection that includes 20th century prints and paintings, Asian art, Pre-Columbian art and artifacts, decorative arts and photographs.

At the Saugerties Lighthouse, guests experience the lighthouse’s history, a museum that was once a bedroom, and the tower view.

At Senate House State Historic Site, visitors learn about colonial life and Kingston’s role in early US history. Guests explore NY State history and learn about life in the 1700s.

Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center is dedicated to enhancing environmental awareness and appreciation of the natural world.

At Stony Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse on the Hudson River, guests learn the historical importance of lighthouses to river commerce.

One of the world’s leading sculpture parks, the Storm King Art Center features over 100 sculptures made of various material including steel, stone, and earth.

The Taconic Outdoor Education Center supports a variety of year-round day and overnight educational, team building, and business programs for most ages–colleges, elementary to high schools, scout troops, youth groups and clubs.

The Connect-Kids-to-Parks Field Trip Grant Program (Connect Kids) is designed to connect students in New York State with nature and history. Each grant provides reimbursement of up to $40 per student (and $80 for Special Education students) for field trips to state and federal parks, forests, historic sites, fish hatcheries and outdoor recreation areas.

ELIGIBILITY: School districts, charter schools, municipalities, and select not-for-profits in New York State.
