The Abyssinian Meeting House is a historic church building, built 1828-1831 by free African-Americans. It is Maine’s oldest African-American church building, and the third oldest in the nation. 

Acadia National Park is a 47,000-acre Atlantic coast recreation area primarily on Maine’s Mount Desert Island offers fall and spring ecosystems field trips.

Acadia Park Kayak Tours offers sunrise, morning, afternoon, sunset, and night-time star gazing tours, as well as overnight island camping expeditions.

The Acadians were people from France who settled on Acadia, now known as Nova Scotia, in the 16-17th century. The Acadian Village is a museum that focuses on the life and work of 19th-century French-Americans is showcased.

The Bates College Museum permanent collection holds over 5,000 works of art including modern and contemporary works on paper, photographs, select holdings of pre-modern prints, contemporary Chinese art, pre-Columbian art, African art, and works by Maine artists.

Visit the Blueberry Pond Observatory on a dark clear night. Start off looking through the 12″ telescope with your eyes, and then switch to using the digital camera to see far more detail than your eye alone can see.
