Field Trips

The mission of Visions Art Museum (VAM) is to create an international community of quilt and textile artists, collectors and the public through exhibitions, education, and engaging programs that increase the appreciation of quilts, textiles and fiber as fine art.

The Wildlands Conservancy Outdoor Discovery program offers hands-on learning experiences that focus of science, technology, engineering, art, math STEAM. Offered at multiple locations throughout Southern California.

The centerpiece of Think Watershed is the Marine Science Floating Lab Program, which offers a 3-hour cruise through the Long Beach or Los Angeles Harbor, where students participate in hands-on, marine-science learning activities.

The Travel Town Museum Foundation offers guided instructional tours led by a knowledgeable docent which includes a ticket to ride on the miniature train that encircles the museum grounds.

Engaging youth and the school community in immersing and learning about the natural environment is core to TreePeoples work. Programs focus on environment and includes service learning projects.

The UCLA Planetarium shows includes a special topic, a current night-sky show, and (weather permitting) a telescope viewing. The content includes currently visible stars, constellations, planets, and other astronomical phenomena. Host both in person* and virtual shows.

The USS Hornet Museum is a museum ship, located on the southernmost pier of the former Naval Air Station Alameda. Their guided tours highlights USS Hornet’s history, NASA’s Apollo missions and STEM programs with new vocabulary and concepts.

The USS Pampanito (SS-383) is a restored World War II diesel-electric powered submarine. Located at Historic Pier 45, in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, Pampanito is both a museum and a memorial to those who served in the “silent service.”

Verge Center for the Arts provides contemporary art and art resources to the Sacramento region through a combination of exhibitions, low or no cost artist workspace, and educational programming. Verge offers personalized group and school tours with reservations.

At the Walt Disney Family Museum, find animation, innovation, and inspiration in the life story of Walt Disney, the man who raised animation to an art, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a distinctly American legacy that transformed the entertainment world.

At the Wells Fargo Museum, experience nearly two centuries of their history from the early days of the Gold Rush to Silicon Valley today. Guides will make the museum come alive for students or other large group through artifacts, stories, and hands-on experiences.

White Point Nature Education Center and Preserve’s education programs help children understand the beauty and significance of the Palos Verdes Peninsula’s natural areas and empower them to play a role in its preservation.
