FIELD TRIPS

SMLI features a wide range of field trip programs including outdoor workshops on our preserve or Manhasset Bay, live animal presentations, and many other hands-on activities that span all fields of science. Examine and excavate fossils in our paleontology lab, discover the cosmos with our StarLab portable planetarium, use forensic science to solve a mystery at the museum, and much more. Our courses run the gamut in variety from aerodynamics to zoology, there is something for all ages!

FIELD TRIPS

Daisies, brownies, juniors, cadettes, tiger cubs, and webelos can all earn a variety of badges at SMLI! All programs are 1.5 hours and designed to meet badge requirements. Earn outdoor badges in the woods or at the beach, animal-based badges with our live mammals and reptiles, and much more.

Looking for an extra-special experience? Join us for an overnight sleepover at the museum, complete with a night hike, campfire, and morning beach walk! Scout Troops can now sign up for our new SMLI Scouts Membership to receive a 10% discount on all scout badge and overnight programs booked with SMLI for 1 year.

For years, SMLI has been successfully supplementing homeschool life science, earth science, and physical science curriculums through hands-on programming. Homeschoolers will enjoy learning with other homeschoolers while meeting animals, exploring the woods or bay, and creating a variety of experiments.
