Westmoor Park’s programs focus on a variety of environmental education topics such as ecology, gardening, and others. Students can see a planting demonstration, meet some animals and learn about their traits, study food chains, or go on a hike to explore the woods. Depending on the season, students can also visit the park for activities such as animal feedings, fishing classes, food preparation, maple sugaring, crafts, and more.

Westmoor Park

Westmoor Park offers students, scouts, and homeschoolers 162-acres of nature to explore the environment. Operated by the Leisure Services Department of West Hartford, the park features ponds, streams, meadows, deciduous forests, nature trails, a farm barn, and a Discovery Room filled with critters. Groups can enjoy customized field experiences both on the park grounds and at the educational farm with the park’s environmental studies programs. Fun hayrides are available for groups in the fall. Field trips are available from September through June.
