Field Trips

Ohio Caverns offers 2 different parts of the cavern. The Historic Tour begins at the site of initial discovery explored from 1897 to 1925. The Natural Wonder Tour takes guests on a 1 mile walk through parts discovered after 1925. It includes the largest stalactite in Ohio, The Crystal King, along with many other marvelous formations and colors.

The Springfield Museum of Art, the only Smithsonian Affiliate museum in Ohio. It has 8 galleries and features a robust permanent collection of American art dating from the 1700s to the present, alongside seven galleries of rotating contemporary exhibitions, a sculpture trail, and the interactive Chakeres Art Lab.

SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park preserves a reconstructed Fort Ancient Native American settlement exploring archaeology, indigenous culture, astronomy, agriculture, village life, and Ohio’s prehistoric heritage. It is part of the Dayton Society of Natural History.

The Glen Helen Raptor Center rescues and rehabilitates birds of prey while educating the public on the role of raptors in Ohio’s ecosystems. Hands-on programs for field trip and outreach programs.

Wegerzyn Gardens has 10 formal gardens, the nature trails & the Swamp Forest boardwalk. The Children’s Discovery Garden which includes a preschool area, two ponds, individual garden plots, a wildlife area, and perennial and rock gardens.

Located in the 65-acre open-air Carillon Historical Park, the Wright Brothers National Museum houses the world’s most extensive collection of Wright family artifacts. It is the only place in the world where you can view the 1905 Wright Flyer III—the first practical flying machine and the only aircraft designated a National Historic Landmark
