Field Trips

From teaching American history through the lens of automobilia, to programs designed to give technical expertise, America’s Packard Museum has programs for students & youth groups of all ages. Teachers can use the Museum’s automobiles, artifacts and clothing displays as primary sources in teaching history, humanities and more.

Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is a science and natural history museum featuring STEM exhibits, live animals, a planetarium, and regional history collections exploring science, ecology, astronomy, and innovation. It is part of the Dayton Society of Natural History.

Carillon Historical Park is a 65-acre park and museum, which contains historic buildings and exhibits concerning the history of technology, innovation, industry and invention as well as the history of Dayton. The exhibit centers on: John H. Patterson, Orville and Wilbur Wright, Charles F. Kettering, and Col. Edward A. Deeds.

Cox Arboretum MetroPark on 174-acre arboretum with trees, shrubs, specialty gardens, mature forests and prairies. Programs focus on sustainable horticulture, plant science and conservation. Specialty gardens include Pollinator Gardens, Perennials, Rock and Water gardens and The Barbara Cox Center for Sustainable Horticulture.

Dayton Art Institute is a fine arts museum featuring American, European, Asian, African, and contemporary art collections exploring artistic traditions, cultural heritage, creativity, design, and art history.

Through exhibits and programs, the international Peace Museum’s aim is to spark conversations around human rights, social justice, and nonviolence. The museum highlights peace as both an outcome and an ongoing process of justice, respect, and understanding.

Professional artists guide innovative visual arts experiences that encourage imagination, cultural awareness, collaboration, and an appreciation for the creative process through curriculum-focused projects tailored to educational themes. Groups can create their own art party or pottery, hot glass, or mosaic glass projects.

National Aviation Hall of Fame located at the National Museum of the US Air Force, honors America’s aerospace pioneers and memorialize and share their impact for the inspiration of leaders to come from early flight to space travel and our nation’s extraordinary aviation heritage.

The AAM accredited Air Force Museum is the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world. Programs incorporate flight simulation, aerospace, and much more. Take a virtual tour.

SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park preserves a reconstructed Fort Ancient Native American settlement exploring archaeology, indigenous culture, astronomy, agriculture, village life, and Ohio’s prehistoric heritage. It is part of the Dayton Society of Natural History.

Wegerzyn Gardens has 10 formal gardens, the nature trails & the Swamp Forest boardwalk. The Children’s Discovery Garden which includes a preschool area, two ponds, individual garden plots, a wildlife area, and perennial and rock gardens.

Located in the 65-acre open-air Carillon Historical Park, the Wright Brothers National Museum houses the world’s most extensive collection of Wright family artifacts. It is the only place in the world where you can view the 1905 Wright Flyer III—the first practical flying machine and the only aircraft designated a National Historic Landmark
