Field Trips

Located on the grounds of Sailor’s Snug Harbor, this children’s museum is surrounded by gardens and a large outdoor play space. Learning is made fun and interactive through hands-on programs, exhibits, and themed activities.

With a reptile collection that is one of the best in the world, the Staten Island Zoo houses over 1,500 animals of nearly 300 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates on an 8 acre campus.

The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum allows visitors to explore art, storytelling, citizenship and civic engagement, and poetry.

Groups can enjoy learning about various aspects of Bronx history and culture with The Bronx County Historical Society’s tours and programs.

The Connect-Kids-to-Parks Field Trip Grant Program (Connect Kids) is designed to connect students in New York State with nature and history. Each grant provides reimbursement of up to $40 per student (and $80 for Special Education students) for field trips to state and federal parks, forests, historic sites, fish hatcheries and outdoor recreation areas.

ELIGIBILITY: School districts, charter schools, municipalities, and select not-for-profits in New York State.

The Statue of Liberty is one of America’s greatest treasures. Walk from its ground floor to the museum on a virtual tour and see how it was constructed on Liberty Island.

The Studio Museum in Harlem houses over 1,600 paintings, sculptures, and drawings by local, national, and international artists of African descent. In addition to touring the museum, activities include inquiry-based discussions about the art pieces and hands-on art projects.

The Ukrainian Museum features Ukrainian folk art, fine arts, and documentary material of the past and present. The museum features sculptures, maps that trace the history of Ukraine and much more.
