Assateague Island is a 37-mile long barrier island where visitors explore sandy beaches, salt marshes, maritime forests, view birds, wild horses and wild life. Rangers offer guided programs to learn more about the barrier island.

Explore 16,000 sq. ft. of exhibits that explore the unique world between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and discover how the lives of the people are shaped by the water and land, and how the people, in turn, reshape this environment.

Students experiences experiential learner-centered, hands-on activities at these outdoor classrooms through site explorations, native plantings, invasive removals, water quality monitoring, and nature journaling.

At the Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum learn about the history of Ocean City and about the U.S. Life Saving Service and the tools that were used to rescue mariners in distress. There is also an aquarium with interactive exhibits.

At the Ocean City Museum visitors travel back in time to join the heroic surfmen of the US Life-Saving Service on a rescue mission. The museum holds many fascinating tales of Ocean City’s history.

Learn about colonial life along Maryland’s coast when they visit historic Rackliffe House. Rackliffe, overlooking Sinepuxent Bay, is a beautifully restored 18th-century coastal plantation house.
