Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company & Museum preserves and operates the historic railroad equipment for the education and enjoyment of the public.

The Maine Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Maine. It is a bicameral body composed of the lower house Maine House of Representatives and the upper house Maine Senate. Tours available for 4th grade+.

The Maine State Museum focuses on the state’s pre-history, history, and natural science. Guided tours of Maine’s past focuses on Maine archaeology and prehistoric life. Artifacts dating from the end of the Ice Age thru the 1800’s.

Welcome to the Maine Wildlife Park, where you’ll see more animals in a day than you could ever spot in the wild! The Park serves as a permanent home for wildlife that cannot be returned to their natural habitats.

Mainelyminis Miniature Horse Farm is a fun field trip to a miniature horse farm with tours and miniature horse rides. They have 16-20 miniature horses with mini babies arriving in spring and summer.

Merryspring Nature Center, a 66-acre nature park and education center, mission is to practice, teach and advocate sound principles of ecology, conservation and horticulture. 

The Mount Desert Island Historical Society celebrates the lives of the people, traditions, and events that have shaped the local history. 2 locations: the Sound School House Museum and the Somesville Museum & Gardens. 

Designated a National Historic Landmark, the Neal Dow House is a late Federal-style mansion built in 1829. “Federal” style connotes a period in American history when the federal government was being developed and honed.

The Nylander Museum of Natural History was designed to house the collections of Olof O. Nylander, a self-taught scholar and scientist who emigrated from Oremella, Sweden.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and operate pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies significant to the evolution of transportation for the purpose of education.

Page Farm and Home Museum is home to the state’s most important collection of farm technologies and artifacts of rural culture. Visitors will be able to gain valuable and practical insights into Maine’s rural past.

The Penobscot Marine Museum features various historic buildings and exhibits that celebrate the maritime culture of the Penobscot Bay region. Eight of its buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
