Self-guided field trips available. Museum staff will be present for questions. Our space can hold about 30 students at a time. If your group is larger, we can plan to rotate groups between another local historic site or our courtyard filled with historical markers. Please call or email to discuss groups larger than 30.

The museum was established in 1976, it was closed for a time because of hurricane damage, and has reopened in the old Galveston County courthouse. We offer free admission 3 days each week, and free parking. Galveston was once the biggest city in early Texas, and its history is full of interesting stories.
