Students will learn all about the unique ecosystems of southeastern North Carolina on an environmental education boat tour with Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours. Field trips allow students to get hands-on while identifying carnivorous swamps at the Green Swamp, discovering black water Cyprus at Town Creek, and looking for shorebird ecosystems at Masonboro and Hutaff Islands. Activities include studying coastal plants, examining tidal creek water quality, and collecting seashells and coastal marine invertebrate at the Cape Fear Local Barrier Islands. Field trips align with NC Standard Course of Study.

Embark on an environmental adventure with Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours on a 26-foot catamaran boat. Students, scouts, homeschoolers, and campers will enjoy exploring the barrier islands, creeks, and inlets of Cape Fear on a variety of tours. Groups can visit North Carolina’s Masonboro Island, Lea-Hutaff Island, Bradley Creek and other areas during exciting excursions through natural scenery. Each tour offers opportunities for groups to spot wildlife, plants, and more. Educational eco-tours by Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours aim to raise conservation awareness about the sensitive habitats and wildlife that exist in North Carolina’s Cape Fear region. Field trip cruises leave from Blockade Runner Dock at Wrightsville Beach.
