FIELD TRIPS

Wheaton Arts offers a number of group tours that will teach students about the creative process and the museum exhibits. Choose from workshops such as ceramics, bead-making, watercolor painting, and more—best for 3rd through 6th grade. Students can also tour the Museum of American Glass to learn about the art and science of glassmaking from colonial times to the present. Students can interact and take part in the lessons of decision making, budgeting, and engaging in a sales transaction in the fun, supportive environment of our General Store. There they will find small handmade items made on campus in the artist studios, traditional toys that encourage unplugged creativity, and a selection of nature-inspired books for all ages.In the Gallery of Fine Craft, students can obtain inspiration from handmade art and imagine what they can create! Light refreshments are available for purchase in the General Store, however, packed lunches are recommended. Grants are available through Field Trip New Jersey.

Wheaton Arts is one of southern New Jersey's best cultural arts destinations, offering museum and gallery exhibitions, opportunities to meet with artists, demonstrations in glassmaking, ceramics, and flamework, as well as a variety of art classes and workshops. It is home to the Museum of American Glass, one of the largest collections of American glass in the country, including the world’s largest glass bottle! In the amphitheater-style Glass Studio, visitors can watch hot molten glass transformed into works of art. Other highlights include the Down Jersey Folklife Center with special exhibits and programming throughout the year, a one-mile looping Nature Trail, scenic picnic areas, a 10,000-square-foot Event Center, and two award-winning Museum Stores.

FAMILY OUTINGS

Families are invited to the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center for one of their many exciting programs for families. In addition to their regular guided tours and workshops, the center offers special family days and activities. They have letterboxing, creation stations, chalkboards, and a ton of games. Kids can have fun and stay engaged while learning about art and history. The Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center also offers one-hour family art workshops on select Saturdays.
