FIELD TRIPS

Students benefit from Green Chimneys’ dynamic Clearpool landscape to learn about natural history, forestry, water conservation, and diverse wildlife through hands-on, experiential activities and exciting team building exercises. The outdoor education activities and wildlife programs at Clearpool are designed to support classroom activities and enrich academic and interpersonal development by encouraging nature exploration and play as students discover ecological connections. The Nature-Based Program helps students practice plant identification, learn about animals, collect data on forest health, study the watershed and wetlands, learn maple syrup-making, and collect and identify minerals. Activities in Outdoor Adventure field trips include hiking through any of the 5 miles of trails, a compass challenge, boating, a high and low ropes course, teambuilding, and outdoor survival.

At Green Chimneys’ Clearpool Campus, groups immerse themselves in a world of outdoor education and exploration. With 350 acres of woodlands, five miles of hiking trails, and a natural lake, groups can experience the environment in new ways. The Nature-Based Program incorporates hikes, rock and stream study, wildlife observation, and more to teach topics such as ecology, geology, natural history, and forestry. The Adventure Program offers opportunities to develop teambuilding, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills through activities such as ropes courses, raft building, and hiking. Five cabins and an on-site dining facility can accommodate overnight stays for up to 120 students.

FIELD TRIPS

Scout groups can come to Green Chimneys for a variety of after school programs, full-day trips or overnight outings. Programs offer opportunities for scouts to build their outdoor and interpersonal skills while working towards educational goals. After school programs of 1-2 hours include nature and wildlife study, and wilderness programs such as a compass challenge, sensory awareness, teambuilding, boating, and a high and low ropes course. Facilities can accommodate up to 120 scouts for an overnight stay and groups can enjoy evening activities such as night hikes, campfires, and more!
