FIELD TRIPS
The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History's educational programs have been designed to meet the goals and objectives of the Connecticut Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Frameworks and Common Core State Standards. Our programs are inquiry-based and help develop skills in close observation, evidential reasoning, and critical thinking. Look for the curriculum connections with the program descriptions or find the curriculum connections. Bring your class to the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History for an engaging field trip! Museum programs are thematic and focus on a wide range of social studies topics from Connecticut history to civics and geography. Programs take place in the museum’s permanent and changing exhibitions, or in non-exhibit spaces at the museum.

The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History offers a selection of hands-on, interactive programs for scout groups. Scout programs are also available as hour-long outreach programs brought directly to you! Outreach programs are $150 per program plus $0.65 per mile for roundtrip.

FIELD TRIPS
Home school days are offered periodically throughout the year and are an interactive, hands-on educational experience designed for children of all ages. Workshops are offered throughout the day for different age groups. Families may sign up for a half day (one workshop) or a full day (two workshops). Each workshop includes a list of additional resources to encourage further at-home exploration of the workshop themes.
Families can also register their children under the age of 5 for the Little Learners program free of charge. This opportunity features story times, crafts, and guided activities related to the day’s themes.

FAMILY OUTINGS
The CMCH is a great place to visit with kids! Come on your own and explore the interactive exhibits, or join us for one of our many fun family programs!
Inspire Center - Every Saturday and Sunday families can explore, create, and invent in the Inspire Center! Using inspiration from Curtis Veeder, a Connecticut inventor, and the unique objects in the CMCH’s collection, the Inspire Center brings history and problem-solving together in this hands-on, creative space designed for visitors of all ages!
Free First Weekend Family Programs - On the first weekend of every month, the CMCH offers free admission to the museum exhibits and Inspire Center. On Saturday, join us for a fun free family program. These drop-in family programs are typically scheduled from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and involve a craft or activity for children and caregivers to work on together.
