FIELD TRIPS

Field trips at JVTF’s Center for Food Education are wrapped around our flagship program, Good School Food. Every Good School Food lesson and field trip aligns with the Alabama Course of Study. This hands-on education model connects students to food, farming, and the culinary arts through standards-based, cross-curricular lessons.
DATES + EXPERIENCES: Culinary: January, February, March. Farm: April, May, September, October, November.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays
2 hours: 9:00–11:00am OR 12:00–2:00pm
All requests must be received at least two weeks in advance of the preferred date of visit. All requests will be considered based upon availability and capacity.

All programs are free to BCS students due to generous support from BCS and public and private partners.

Jones Valley Teaching Farm Center for Food Education

Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s Good School Food program is a nationally recognized food-based experiential education model that connects students to food, farming, and the culinary arts through cross-curricular lessons aligned with the Alabama Course of Study. Field trips at JVTF’s Center for Food Education allow students to experience Good School Food’s immersive learning model. JVTF also operates teaching farms on-site at 7 public schools, hosts free community workshops, shares harvests and seedlings within the community, and employs interns and apprentices.
