Founded in 1936 and designed by Danish landscape architect Jens Jensen, the idea of the Lincoln Memorial Garden & Nature Garden was thought up by Illinois native Harriet Knudson.

The Springfield Park District’s Washington Park Botanical Garden is a place for enjoyment and education. The Garden provides a scene of tranquility and beauty, an oasis of nature, within an urban environment.
