US Capitol Visitor Center

The Capitol Visitor Center offers two inquiry-based school programs at the U.S. Capitol. Teachers may select one of two programs for their visit; it is not possible to attend both sessions in one day. Students will explore the history of America while examining paintings, sculpture and architectural elements in the Capitol Rotunda, National Statuary Hall, and the Capitol Visitor Center. The tour includes a visit to the Galleries of the U.S. Senate or the U.S. House of Representatives. Students will see the Crypt, the Rotunda, and National Statuary Hall. All tours begin and end at the Visitor Center. Programs focus on topics such as Constantino Brumidi, the Italian-born artist who decorated the Senate wing of the Capitol, civil rights history, and more.
