School

Students can take educational animal tours, visit the tropical Zoo Greenhouse, ride the Safariland Train, learn about zoo careers, and tour the botanical gardens with programs such as Exploring Gardens by the Numbers. Many programs include a hands-on learning experience with live animals. All programs align with Pennsylvania State Standards. Field trips must be reserved at least three weeks in advance.

Erie Zoo & Botanical Gardens offers guided and self-guided programs for both Boy and Girl Scouts on weekdays and weekends. Boy Scout programs allow troops to work on animal and nature related badges while learning about wildlife, participating in experiments, meet endangered animals, and more. Girl Scout programs include mammal, bird, reptile, and amphibian study, fun crafts, scavenger hunts, and a variety of other activities. Erie Zoo fun patches are available.

Summer campers are in for a wild experience at the Erie Zoo & Botanical Gardens! Campers can enjoy seeing the animals on guided tours or even go behind-the-scenes on Rhino, Giraffe, Tiger, Canadian Lynx, and Penguin tours. Summer camp groups are eligible to receive special non-profit group rates. Grab a bite to eat at the concession stand (weather permitting) after your visit.

Homeschool

Homeschoolers will have a blast while learning about animals and plants at Erie Zoo & Botanical Gardens. In addition to the gardens and greenhouse tour, homeschoolers can see tigers and penguins on the Predators Tour, learn how to care for animals, and discover how zoos conserve endangered species. Registered homeschool organizations qualify for non-profit group rates at the zoo.
