Museum of African American History

The Museum of African American History's Boston campus is made up of the Abiel Smith School containing multiple galleries, and The African Meeting House--the oldest black church still standing in the U.S. Visitors can walk on the Black Heritage Trail, a 1.6-mile walking tour that covers life for African Americans in the 19th century. The Nantucket campus features the African Meeting House, which is the only remaining 19th century public building on the island made and occupied by African Americans. The Florence Higginbotham House is an 18th century structure built and owned by an African American a decade before Massachusetts abolished slavery.
